Kids’ Voice Partners with Run(317) in Carmel

Kids’ Voice is once again partnering with Run(317) for the Carmel Run (317) Race on August 30, 2018, beginning at 5 p.m.!

Join us on August 30, 2018, as we team up with Run(317) sponsored by Scotty’s Brewhouse for the Carmel leg of the race series! A portion of the RUN(317) Carmel Arts & Design District race proceeds will benefit Kids’ Voice of Indiana.

Kids’ Voice needs at least 100 volunteers to help at the various support stations before, during, and after the race! We need volunteers for:

Packet Pick up/Runner Services from 5-9 p.m.
Volunteers are needed to pass out bib numbers, premium items, and goodie bags to those participants who have sent in their entry form by mail or through on-line registration.  Volunteers should be able to handle a flurry of activity all at once, monitor the course, check IDs and wristbands, and serve beer to participants once the race is over.  Once packet pick up is finished, volunteers will go over to the Finish Line to assist the runners as they come back in.  This includes handing out water/snacks, retrieving time chips, and handing out medals.  Or you can help take tickets at the beer stations.

Water Station 5:45-8 p.m.
Volunteers will be asked to fill and distribute water cups at location along the course.  Volunteers need to make sure that water remains plentiful for all participants as well as clean the area after the runners/walkers have passed. Volunteers should dress comfortably and for the weather.

Course Marshalls 5:30-8 p.m.
Volunteers are placed along the run/walk routes to direct and encourage runners.  Volunteers will be driven onto the course and picked up once the event is over. The Course Marshall Captain will describe your exact duties depending on your designated course location. A bright orange vest or flag will be issued to each volunteer.  Volunteers should dress comfortably and for the weather.  Must be adults.  If you finish your portion of the race early, then please head over to the Finish Line and help with runners services.  This includes handing out water/snacks, retrieving time chips, and handing out medals.  Or you can help take tickets at the beer stations.

Runners Services  6-8:15 p.m.

  • Volunteers will hand out bottled water and pretzels at the finish line.
  • Volunteers are needed to cheer on participants as they finish the race.
  • Volunteers will organize refreshments (bottle water and pretzels.) and assist with refreshment distribution at the conclusion of the event. Crowd control and refreshment distribution will be organized so that the “back of the pack” runners / walkers are able to enjoy the refreshments at the finish.  This duty also includes clean up, breakdown of boxes, and the collection of the bags.
  • Volunteers will remove the timing chips from the participants shoes Runners will show
  • Volunteers will place finisher medals around participants’ necks

ID Check/Wristband Distribution. 5-8 p.m.
Volunteers will be placing wristbands on the participants after the security guard checks the participants’ ID to verify they are 21 or older.

Beer Station Support. 6-9 p.m.
Help the Thr3ee Wiseman team distribute beer to the participants.  Volunteers will be pouring and serving beer.  You are required to fill out a free one-day alcohol permit. If you have a current Bartender license, it is good for this event too.

You must have an Indiana License!  If you have had a previous out of state license OR if you do not have an Indiana License you MUST provide your out-of-state driving records.

Volunteers are not permitted to drink alcohol if they are wearing their volunteer T-shirt.
